Visual Arts Provision
At Icknield High School we value the creative arts and believe that every student should be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in this area. We believe our exceptional provision encourages students to become independent learners who are prepared to face the challenges of the world beyond the school’s gates. As such, every student studies the core principles of Art and Design at Key Stage 3, before choosing either Art and Design, Graphic Communication, Film or Textiles to study in greater depth at Key Stage 4. We are proud of the fact that all of our students leave us with a GCSE in a creative arts subject.
As part of our Visual Arts provision, we encourage students to be inspired by the work of great artists throughout history and engage with a wide range of resources and media to help them become inventive and creative individuals. We also develop critical thinking by ensuring the topics studied link back the wider curriculum as well as local and wider world issues.
We take great pride in displaying our students’ art work on our website and social media platforms, as well as around the school building. Please do revisit this page and/or follow us on social media to look at some of the incredible work produced by our students.
